XpertAcademy Motorbusiness – A look back at 2022

Don’t just repeat things, sometimes you can also outclass them..

2022 saw us building on our past success.

AGFS (Working Group of Motor Experts in Switzerland on behalf of the Swiss Insurance Association)

An AGFS course with an entirely new format has launched. With 10 presenters from different insurers, there are a total of 80 course days for 500 participants at three locations in two languages (German and French).

The main topics of the course are state-of-the-art powertrain systems and digital footprints in vehicles. The course attendees come from various insurance companies and VFFS offices. (The VFFS is the Swiss association of independent motor claims assessors.) In two days, the attendees acquire the essential tools they need to deal with the latest challenges in their day-to-day work.

Breakage or wear & tear?

A one-day course for motor insurance experts addressing breakages from every angle. The course focuses on the requirements for cover or ancillary cover (T&Cs), recognising cause and effect, as well as materials science and the breakage assessments. On two different days, we educate the attendees in Bulle in French and in Dagmersellen in German about the various key issues. Interest is high and the attendees are extremely satisfied with the course. At the end of the day, the attendees assessed different types of fracture pattern damage and developed wording for an assessment report.

Caravan tool

A one-day caravan course is offered in Bulle (French) and Egerkingen (German) that focuses on using the caravan tool. This tool provides calculation support for caravans and RVs. This course was aimed at repair shops, rental companies and all other users. The more than 10 participants who attended our last course described it as extremely helpful and user-friendly. The learning objective of the caravan tool application is accomplished, and the day is also enhanced by examples of real-life claims.

Scrum

Alongside the various adult education courses, XpertAcademy provides the Scrum framework for technical specialists in the motor insurance sphere. We provide guidance, training and support using this framework, which is based on Scrum and its specific roles. We use the Scrum framework for specialist teams to bring together employees and tap their extensive knowledge and potential. We teach agile approaches to work and operate outside of the traditional line organisation. This enables us to make a robust contribution to employees’ continuing education. We generate added value and create a positive learning environment, transfer responsibility and offer opportunities for proactive involvement.

If you are interested in gaining insights into the internal implementation of the Scrum method or in attending one of our courses for the automotive industry, please do not hesitate to contact us or find out about the current courses directly on our website.

Internal training – Action – Knowledge – Passion

Following a two-year interlude due to COVID-19, we were once again able to hold our 2½-day internal training workshop.

We spent the second course day at the DTC (Dynamic Test Center) in Vauffelin. This interesting and informative day was shaped by the expertise of Mr Heinz Reber, Head of Accident Analysis, and his staff.

We learnt in the theory part how during an accident reconstruction the circumstances of an accident are analysed and an attempt is made to clarify them in order to determine what caused the accident.
This enables a precise report to be drawn up. The amazing thing is how much information the vehicles store independently. However, not every vehicle manufacturer allows these data to be retrieved. To enable the accident analyst to obtain certain data, the public prosecutor has to request the release of the data from the vehicle manufacturer.

Among other things in the theory block on the prevention of insurance fraud, we gained an insight into how fraudsters these days attempt to assert non-justified or excessive claims and lead insurance companies astray. Such damage reports and reconstructions are an important component for uncovering such cases. The interesting presentations were rounded off with examples and videos.

This was followed by the practical part. Genuine vehicles were used to simulate various accident scenarios leading to parking damage on a one-to-one basis. For example, these include turning into a space too early and brushing against a pillar (e.g. in a multi-storey car park) or turning out of a space too early and touching the adjacent vehicle. We could see how much power is needed and what damage arises.
We were given the opportunity to cause parking damage (door knocks) ourselves and saw that there are very many ways of doing so.
It is not always possible to establish merely on the basis of pictures of damage without having witnessed the incident whether we are looking at so-called parking damage or some other kind of damage.

A live crash of two cars (without occupants) and an airbag ignition rounded the day off.

The DTC is definitely the right address for anyone looking for an exciting day packed with knowledge and action.

XpertAcademy – Review 2021

The greatest masters are those who never stop being students.

Despite interruptions, we at the XpertAcademy can look back on a successful year 2021.

We were able to conduct a total of 80 training days, with almost 400 participants. This was done in German and French. The participants came from various insurance companies and the vehicle trade and were extremely satisfied that they were able to take part in this course.

How did you feel about the first day of the course?

How did you feel about the second day of the course?

Feedback from the participants:

Speaker was very good, compliments. The exchange is the most valuable.

The two speakers did very well and were each responsive to the attendees, not only with questions.

Well prepared speakers, optimal choice of topics. I would be interested in the electric vehicle as the next choice of topic.

Thank you very much for the very good organization and for the possibility of a not to be underestimated society and partner overlapping exchange of experiences, professionally as well as socially.

Online course

We have also held online courses this year, which was not done before.

We will build on last year’s success and offer a variety of courses again this year and conduct them under current Covid-19 rules.

We are looking forward and wish everyone a good and healthy time until then.
